Introducing the three states of writing (and how an understanding of them changes everything about the place of fear in the creative process) First up: Gaseous State Writing 🎧with a meditation🎧
I find that reading a spontaneously turned-to page of KOKORO { 'Nothing is fixed. Everything is changing. All possibilities are waiting for us.'} pgs. 144-145, and then centering by listening to an audio by you, today: The Way of the Fearless Writer - PT 1. Thank you so much Beth.
I did the meditation this morning and drafted two new poems on the back of it. One was particularly surprising because it is focused on an ice scraper that lives in my desk drawer. Thank you, Beth.
And this yet again is just what I needed to hear as I am drawn so strongly to journalling again but also was worrying that I’m indulging myself rather than trying seriously to write. Beth you always find a way to articulate what I (and others of course) need to know when I need to know it - I release the worry and will journal until I feel the need to move to another state💕
Oh my goodness. I had no idea where the meditation would take me. I’ve had a problem with a my novel all week - a theme I opened but then hadn’t resolved and I had no idea what to do with it. I’d tried to hold it lightly - to carry it as a question as you have often talked of Beth.
Suddenly the answer was there and I have four pages of story which spilled out and I know I have the beginning of the answer and I’m so excited it’s just as well my husband is now awake and making more tea or I’d be bouncing around so I can tell someone! What a start to the weekend!
Such a lovely and helpful distinction, Beth, thank you. It’s especially helpful to be reminded that these are states not stages. So much of creativity is iterative rather than linear.
The gaseous state is so freeing. Really LOVED the meditation and was grateful to spill some thoughts through this wonderful exercise. I haven’t journaled in a long while, this came as a reminder to return to that practice. Thank you Beth.
They should be at the end. If not you can email learning@dowhatyouloveforlife.com and we can point you in the direction of an alternative place you can download them Xx
I have spent most of my life writing in the gaseous state! The past year mostly in the liquid state. I’m looking forward to shaping the liquid state with the help of your course Ink and Flame. I can’t wait to see what happens!❤️
In respect of your article, I realise I haven't done much gaseous writing. On the whole, my writing tends to be an idea, or something from a dream. I'll then write something, with no plan, and just go from there. Thanks for posting this, it's opened up another avenue for my writing.
A few weeks ago I bought most of your books, thanks to the very generous Book Tokens I got for Christmas. I've just started Freedom Seeker and have started a journal dedicated to the exercises in the book.
Thank you. I've written a short story after doing the meditation. I feel like I've tapped into a past life. I've never written anything like it before but the images, and emotions are still with me now.
"Fearless Writer" has been a goto for me since I first listened to it as an audio. Yet I can easily be distracted and forget.
Just listening to this guided imagery today set me off on the right track, straight through a "stuck point" and into new narratives - and all by 6:30 this morning. (I start early.)
1500 words of gaseous spilling on the pages by second cuppa time.
Most will become a shaped part of the story. A couple will become Notes for whenever. And one will be this weekend's post.
I just ordered your book. Thank you for the lovely email. I read it intentionally. I look forward to the next two. These meditation was relaxing. I thought I was going to struggle with the writing. But the words came. Took me somewhere I didn't expect to go. I have been struggling because I am quitting myself regularly to listen. I was listening for something very specific, but this writing, though it didn't answer what I have been waiting to hear, took me somewhere I needed to go. So, I will continue to listen...and write.

Thank you for this explanation of writing . I think I’ve been writing mostly in the gaseous state , with only a bit of liquid .

I have both the hard copy book and the audible version of The Way of the Fearless Writer
Question: I don’t see the guided meditations on my audible download. How do I find them there?

It works!
‘Creation to curation’. Brilliant.

Isn’t it a relief when we realise it is waiting there for us to hear, rather than us having to come up with it all? Xx
And oh how often we need reminding of this!
Yes!
Thank you, Beth.
Thank you Beth, I haven't listened to the meditation yet, but i will. I want to visit the chalice well this year.
