I can totally relate to this need to just be quiet and thoughtful and a little (or a lot) unsociable in order to get fully immersed in writing or being creative. Being a mum and a business owner and a daughter and trying to do your book masterclass has been challenging so this weekend I've asked for help while I take myself off to a quiet corner of the island to get well and truly stuck in. As paintings that feel like portals — dreamlike worlds you can step into — they mirror my novel, a portal story about a woman who can step into her paintings.
