Number 13. Everything is connected. Watch closely.

Thank you so much for the wonderful Summer Writing Sanctuary. My fellow writer from Writers Collective Canada recommended me to join it. Towards the end of the course I realized, that the author of the amazing book "Wabi Sabi" and the facilitator of Summer Writing Sanctuary is one and the same person! This was a moment when I was amazed at how everything is connected in this world. Thank you! Much gratitude.

Given that I've set apart my writing space and write regularly, and move regularly, the next guidepost I believe is very important is "Remove everything that is not essential."

It is # 13 for me! "Everything is Connected. Watch Slowly" feels most like a lantern for me right now. For me, this guidepost, these words, speak to the language of metaphor and how so many of us can relate in our own meaningful way. We each put our unique lens up to a metaphor and take in what resonates for us--sometimes we share a similar meaning and yet other times what we experience is uniquely ours. It's like invisible threads that are systemic in connection, and they come 'alive' when we express the impact of what we've seen, touched or read. I especially like "watch slowly" as it feels like an invitation to really get close, notice, discover and maybe get a little excited about what is unfolding.

Number 3 for me right now, “Practice writing simply to become more awake. It will change your life.”

As a result of the Summer Writing Sanctuary, I’m ready to begin and looking forward to this adventure! Thank you, Beth!

This is so helpful! I am a great planner but l have loved the freedom of the last week with short bursts of writing with the Summer Writing Sanctuary and it has really inspired me. Plus not to overdo the planning too.

3 Practise writing simply to become more awake. It will change your life.

I think this one is my favorite for now, because I've enjoyed the spontaneous writing from prompts in River of Words so much! I ended up with poems, beginnings of stories and all kinds of ideas that I would not have encountered in my usual writing, which tends to be focused on projects or journaling. I surprized myself and I am delighted!

I love this list! Not sticking to the plan - I have learned that whatever plans I make, something usually happens to send them off piste, often in a good way! I know I need to loosen up a little, leave room for magic to happen!

Also, thanks so much Beth for adding audio to your essays - I love audio books so listening suits me!

ALL OF THEM, though if I was forced to pick ONE, it's actually the line *after* the fifteen. "You are a writer, and the world needs your medicine."

This is the lantern I continually need this season of my life. Thank you 🌻

Number 3. I am waking up to more of who I am now after a long period of needing to be frozen asleep for safety!

I love all 15 but #8 really resonates with me right now. I need to be kind to myself and take more risks with my writing, gather my courage and put my words out into the world instead of putting my manuscripts into the drawer. Thank you Beth - your Winter Sanctuary course was one of the best I've ever taken!

Absolutely love number 7 !!

I love the structure of a plan so I have an end goal, then just letting go of the How and seeing what unfolds

Carry a note book and a pen everywhere, I have done this for years, however the past year I have actually really started using it. We were out for brunch one Sunday morning and we saw this young lady eating alone with a book, her hair up in a pony tail, with glasses, a sweater draped around her neck, drinking her coffee as she waited for her meal. And instantly I thought she looks like she should be in Paris, I grabbed my little notebook and started writing. My husband goes what are you doing, I said she should be in Paris, he agreed. I thought what a wonderful character she would be for a book. And wrote several pages. You never know what will inspire you...On a side note, the place we have brunch at brings your check in a book, along with a book mark for you to take. Signing the books are allowed as well.

I need to start carrying a notebook and pen again, like I did a long time ago; it’s not a coincidence I wrote a lot of creative pieces back .then
