i wanted to share one final piece with the group. One that i started last Sunday (April 6th) and worked through our final week in Ink & Flame. This one took a moment to come to completion because i wanted to make sure it had the vibe and feeling i wanted vs. the one i know it could have had.

i'm grateful for the time i got to share with y'all. Thank you Beth for helping forge and further foster my path as a poet, author, writer. Thank you. Thank you. thank you.

I went completely off piste in the early hours of this morning. What I wrote came not so much of fragments from this week, but from fragments in my head that I have been too scared to write down. Fragments that didn't have a form or a place. Plus two things that triggered me that happened yesterday. This piece probably belongs more with the title 'blaze' or 'destruction'. But I needed to write it.

In the last class, Beth, you asked how it feels to press send and publish a piece. There are three words that describe how I felt in publishing this piece: scared, defiant, and jubilant. Writing it was cathartic. I have never written with tears pouring down my face before. Writing it has opened up all manner of things that I need to address because I've kept them locked away. Writing this is in part trying to make sense of things.

But wherever this belongs, it is being part of this group that has given me the courage to write it and to publish it. It comes with a trigger warning of war, death and grief. So don't read it if you want to stay in a happy place. But I'm sharing my link here because I feel safe with you all. You've all shared your vulnerability too, and I thank you for that.

Thank you. Your words mean a lot to me. Hollie’s class was transformational for me, in how I approach writing. I am really looking forward to reading your work.

So glad you feel safe and courageous to write what your heart needed to give voice to. It sounds like what burns within ...and when we were told by Holly Ringland to write that. Profound. Stirring...and your bravery is giving me courage to write what is just beneath the surface in the future..

Here’s my Lantern piece….not stitched together fragments, they are waiting for time to stitch them. They, and my piece of place writing from Kerri’s lesson will arrive in due course.

Hello, lovely Ink & Flame friends,

I can’t quite believe we’ve reached the final week. This space has been such a transformative gift—a place where words were held, where fragments found form, and where something inside me softened and opened and is now pouring out.

This final essay feels like a stitching together of all the things I’ve been learning to hold: the missed moments, the glimpses, the quiet ache of trying to stay present in an ever-spilling life.

To Beth, thank you for the gentle yet mighty fire you lit and tended. To those who have read, noticed, offered a kind word, encouraged, and showed up with me, thank you. Your presence mattered.

Here is my final piece: Still Enough to Notice.

May we all keep writing the small things.

May we hold what we can.

And may we trust that every piece is something.

I cannot wait to take the next course alongside many of you.

With deep gratitude and much love,

Jennifer

Hello Beautiful Firestack family, it's been a bit since I've posted and I thank you for helping to raise my subscribers to 19 (that includes two of my own personal emails...but hey...its a start!)

It has been a pure joy to be involved in Ink and Flame-Beth you are a gift to writers...thank you for sharing your talents and encouragement with all of us!

Looking forward to adding more of you to my reading list as the months continue and through Beths other classes and Soul Circle (I just joined this last week) and to see you all living your writing dreams line by line!

Here is my week 7 work, inspired by many fragments...The chaplain in me must warn that this piece speaks of God as "He" at times so if you are brave to read it, feel free to replace God or He/Him with Mystery, Spirit, Creator, guide etc...however you speak of that which cannot be put in a box or is beyond comprehension.

Love to you all!

My week seven piece was a lot of fun to write because of one particular fragment that decided to make its way to the page, taking me down memory lane in all the best ways.

I can’t believe we’re already at the end of our last week. Without going into detail, my family has gone through some really challenging things the last couple of months. I have also had the welcome excitement and joy of a book launch in the middle of class. Tomorrow, I will be doing my first ever book signing event.

Showing up to write in the midst of all of this has brought a welcome rhythm to my life that has otherwise felt quite different from the norm. I am grateful!

This final essay, and the process of writing fragments, then choosing which thread to follow stretched me, and inspired me. This is not how I usually work, and it was challenging, and fascinating, much of the work done in my head between Wednesday's shaping invitation, and today, finishing and posting. And there are more fragments and combinations to explore...
