#meetthewriter Day 1 (Thurs May 1): CONFESSION ✨Why do you *really* love writing? ✨ I have called this one ‘confession’ because I want to invite you to explore why you think you really return to the page over and over (which might be different from what other might expect you to say).

Friends, #meetthewriter is back! Join me for a 15-day community challenge to help your audience get to know you as a writer (and perhaps to help you take your writer identity seriously - go on, I dare you!) It is free and fun, and a great way for us all to amplify each others’ voices by sharing as we go.
Each day for fifteen days I will post ONE WORD with an associated QUESTION related to your writing life, for you to answer on your own socials. You can also use the prompts to inspire a whole essay or blog post, or simply to take a moment to get to know yourself better!
Last year lots of people posted daily on Substack Notes in response to each prompt, and then gathered everything together and shaped it into a Welcome Post which many people ended up using as their ‘hero post’ on their Substack. Of course that is totally up to you, but it’s an interesting thing to try.
It is very simple. You don’t need to register or anything. Just check my Substack Notes feed each day from May 1-15 for the question, and then write your response. You can write anything - short, long, a poem etc. - and include an image if you like. You are welcome to reply in the comments of my Note, or on this post if you like, but the idea of this challenge is to help YOUR people get to know you better so you might prefer to create your own Note or Post. (If you do that please do tag me so I can see it - I will be sharing as many as I can!)
I will be penning my own responses as we go along, and I do hope you’ll join in. Please share and invite your friends!
So, who’s in?
Beth Xx
PS #meetthewriter was started by me in 2024 but inspired by #marchmeetthemaker, which was created by designer Joanna Hawker in 2016.
Note: It can be tricky to find particular Notes here on Substack so please know you can always:
Go to my Notes feed and scroll to find the latest one
Come back to this post and check below for the word. I will add the questions each day as we go along. (Hint: Don’t jump ahead because the question might not be what you are expecting…)
Go to my Instagram @bethkempton where the same prompt will be shared each day (usually around 9.15am UK time)
