My books

I write books about living well and making the most of this precious life. I am humbled by the fact that they have been published by ALL of the ‘Big Five’, translated into nearly 30 languages, recommended by the likes of TIME Magazine, the Sunday Times, British Vogue and Psyschologies, and as an Apple Must-Listen audiobook.

My sixth book KOKORO: Japanese wisdom for a life well lived was published on April 4 and will be out in the US on October 1. It missed the Sunday Times Bestseller list by just 25 copies. Such is life sometimes. I wrote about that here.

Wabi Sabi: Japanese wisdom for a perfectly imperfect life has sold at a rate of more than one copy every ten minutes since it was published over five years ago - that’s more than a third of a million copies and it blows my mind. Thank you to everyone who has read, gifted and recommended it! If you liked Wabi Sabi you will love Kokoro. Just sayin’.

Calm Christmas and a Happy New Year led to the UK’s favourite Christmas podcast, The Calm Christmas Podcast, now in its fourth year. This #1 podcast has been recommended by Vanity Fair, Ideal Home, the Radio Times, and Great British Podcasts. I hope it is a lantern in the darkest season. You can listen on Apple / Spotify / on my website at bethkempton.com/podcast.

Other books

The Way of the Fearless Writer: Ancient Eastern wisdom for a flourishing writing life is a radically different approach to writing which will help you spill words from deep within. It contains fifty original writing exercises, and New York Times bestselling author Mark Nepo said this about it:

In The Way of the Fearless Writer, Beth Kempton uses a Buddhist sensitivity to create a path at the intersection of our inner life, our daily life, and the lifelong practices of opening and listening; all in the service of the deeper expressive journey which, if true to, gives us access to the life below. Walk with Beth on this path and the vow to write will bring your depth to the surface and your voice into the world.

We Are in This Together: Finding hope and opportunity in the depths of adversity - I wrote this book in sixteen days at the beginning of the pandemic. Normally I write slowly, but this one was different.

Freedom Seeker: Live more. Worry less. Do what you love. My firstborn. Fly free my friend.
